Red Bank Ghost Tours  – Accompanied by the spirits of days gone by, Jersey Shore Ghost Tours will be bringing the past to life with a walking lantern tour of spots in downtown Red Bank that are said to be inhabited and haunted by other worldly beings.  Friday Nights in Red Bank through August/September. The center was started in 1964 by the Johnson family as a permanent antique show with 12 dealers.  Operated by Guy Johnson, it is the largest antique district in New Jersey.

The Count Basie Theatre, located at 99 Monmouth Street has been added to the National Register of Historic Places. 

Listed under reference number 09001100, the theatre is listed on the register as the Carlton Theatre, the third of the five names the theatre has had in its 83 year history.  Construction was started in 1925.  The theatre was purchased in 1973 by the Monmouth County Arts Council from the estate of Walter Reade.  The Council operated the theatre as the Monmouth Arts Center until 1984, when it was renamed in honor of Red Bank native, jazz composer, pianist and band leader William “Count” Basie following his death that year.

The Count Basie Theatre, Inc. is the nonprofit corporation that has owned, managed and programmed the theatre since 1999.

The Count Basie is a place where the community comes together to be entertained and exchange ideas.  Over 200,000 people attend about 200 live performances of music, dance, theatre and film each year, and more than 1,000 students a year participate in arts education classes and workshops at the theatre. 

It’s also the place to take your family each Holiday season to see The Company of Dance Arts performances of the The Nutcracker.
